Beef Wellington
Andrea made her beef wellington with peppercorn sauce. Always such a treat!

SSAL
Tonight’s dinner was at SSAL, newly awarded a Michelin star a couple weeks ago. Cuisine is Korean fine dining. The decor is Scandinavian minimalist, clean. Tables were nicely spaced out. Tasting menu was 12 courses plus the additional urchin/egg/slmon roe course I added. Favorite courses were the wagyu tartare, seaweed eel roll, the amberjack, the…

The Progress
Tonight’s dinner was at The Progress. We’ve eaten here with Trisha A. pre-pandemic (funny how we divide so many things into before covid, during, and after). I honestly don’t remember what we ate last time, but I do remember exactly where we sat and being with Trisha, but I don’t recall the food. It is…

Mastro’s Steakhouse
We ate here since we were going to a show just a block away on Geary. I guess it’s a classic steakhouse. I had a bone-in ribeye which was charbroiled. It was ok, but I definitely prefer the way I make a steak on my BGE and definitely don’t prefer steakhouse pricing.

Osito
We eat out so much that it’s not very often that we’re so pleasantly surprised. Osito (little bear, which the chef explained his nickname at one point during the meal) was bestowed a Michelin star on Monday when they announced all of the new stars in Calfiornia, so of course we had to go. The…

Dragon Beaux
Dim sum for a late Sunday brunch. This restaurant was mentioned in both the SF Chronicle article about best dim sum restaurants as well as in Eater’s list , so we had to try it out. This restaurant is a spin off of the old standby Koi Palace in Daly City. We ordered a ridiculous…

Ritual dinner with Chef Alberto Landgraf
This month’s Ritual dinner with Chef Alberto Landgraf, a 2-Michelin star chef whose restaurant Oteque, in Rio de Janeiro, is number 47 on the current World’s 50 Best list. Location this time was at a private residence in Pac Heights. Chef Alberto had a primarily seafood forward menu with many ingredients from Brazil and some…

Frances
Tonight’s dinner was at Frances, one of our old haunts. Frances was formerly a Michelin starred restaurant and sister restaurant to Octavia, which we also have enjoyed several times. Both of these restaurants have a format for the tasting menu that provides several small dishes (i.e like tapas) for each course. We really enjoy this…

Caviar, martinis, tator tots
We were too full from lunch so we just had caviar appetizer, cheese board, and salad for dinner. We were trying a different caviar company, Imperial Caviar, that was recommended to us from the person who sat next to Andrea at our last Ritual dinner (this person also recommended Kusakabe). The sampler order of 1.8…
