Dalida

Steven invited me to lunch (and we had some work things to talk through). I threw him some options and he picked Dalida. The only other time I went here was almost 2 years ago, so I was glad to revisit.

We ordered a la carte (there is a prix fixe lunch that looked pretty decent too). Started with the Breaking Bread Tomato Fattoush Salad. Had the Breaking Bread last time and I remember the dips were delicious and this was as good as I remembered. The Tomato Fattoush Salad was very good in part due to the very fresh and flavorful Sunblaze Ranch tomatoes.

For mains we ordered the Arayes Kebab and the Duroc Pork Souvlaki and the Shoestring Fries. The kebab featured the beef kebab stuffed into the pita with peppers, sauce, and seasoning with an interesting presentation with the open face on each quarter covered with a monolayer of chives. It was very flavorful although quite heavy rich. The souvlaki was also very flavorful, but also very heavy. It was basically a pork confit. It was served on a bed of potato straw? (thinner than shoelace), but since we already had the fries as a side, I didn’t touch these potatoes. I did like the mustard creme fraiche sauce. The actualy fries were not quite as thin as shoestring, really just regular fries, but they were very well made – crisp on the outside and dusted with a bit of seasoning and a nice shatta pepper aioli on the side.

Not the lightest lunch (and a bit on the greasy side), but quite delicious.
