Quince

Wow. We were very much looking forward to coming back here once they opened. Definitely the most expensive meal I’ve ever prepaid (tasting menu plus wine pairings of course) though. This was only the fifth service since they re-opened. This was one of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. Food was amazing (and we went for the additional caviar course since we’re always suckers for the additional courses). Wine pairings were some of the best matched and interesting pairings that we’ve had anywhere. We asked so many questions about the food and wine and glassware and cutlery and dishware, but all of the staff was so incredibly knowledgeable and knew the answers for every question. The attention to detail was amazing…The course with the peas and the dishware from Barcelona with green flecks and the specially edition Reidel glasses with green stems for the Aligote… harmonious.

Not that that everything was perfect… There’s an episode of Frasier where he and his brother Niles are eating at a restaurant and they say the only thing better than a perfect meal is a slightly imperfect meal because that way you can pick at the imperfections all night.. The Australian truffle was not very prominent…the wine pairing with the second dessert didn’t match as well as some of the other pairings (the wine was fantastic but would have paired with something more fruity… When we mentioned that, we were told that the original dessert was a mulberry souffle which made perfect sense for that wine). The meal was almost 4 hours on a school night (and past my bedtime) but we definitely savored every moment. One of the best dining experiences we’ve ever had. We’ll definitely be back!
