I’d heard a lot of good things about this restaurant and the progressive dinner experience. It had been a 2-star Michelin restaurant until it closed in 2012. It reopened in September of 2022, 10 years later. I finally booked us a reservation when we made a last minute decision to go up to wine country

Valette
The last two times we ate at SingleThread, we would see this restaurant packed and people outside waiting to get in, so we finally decided to give it a go. Since I booked very late, I wasn’t able to get indoor seating so we were eating outside in the tented area which was pretty nice

Ettan
Dinner courtesy of a vendor. This was my first time dining here. It’s one of Chef Srijith Gopinathan’s restaurants who also has Copra (which we love) and formerly from Campton Place which had 2 Michelin stars. I started with a Kokam and Smoke cocktail because it had mecval and citrus. It was a bit too

Birdsong – sake maker dinner with IWA 5
We last ate here in June 2019 in between our birthdays. I remember where we sat and having a good time and I also remember the numerous homeless people out in front of the restaurant. They were a Michelin 1-star back then, but picked up a second star in 2021. Andrea had mentioned this place

Plumed Horse
This is one of the few Michelin starred restaurants in the Bay area at which I haven’t dined, so when there was a vendor dinner being hosted there I did accept the invite (plus this is a vendor I very much do like and they also had a presentation from the hacker Freaky Clown). I

Liholiho Yacht Club
This was a random Thursday dinner since Andrea was working downtown in the office and so we figured we may as well grab some dinner downtown. We were trying to go relatively low key since we had just been gorging ourselves in Las Vegas over the extended weekend. We ended up going to LihoLiho Yacht

Flour + Water
We’ve been meaning to eat here ever since they opened in 2009(!). When they first opened, there were no reservations and it was wait in line only so we never bothered. During the pandemic, we did have some of their food kits. We had also ordered on numerous occasions from the pasta shop and eaten

Dumpling Home
When we went to Nightbird a few weeks ago, we passed by Dumpling Home on our way. This was also on our list of places to try, but we hadn’t prioritized it since since you can’t make reservations (line up and put your name on the yelp list once open). Andrea had been thinking about

San Ho Won
Andrea and I first ate here back in December of 2021 not too long after they first opened in November of that year. It was hailed as being high-end Korean cuisine with Corey Lee, of Benu fame, as one of the founders. We had very high expectations from our experience at Benu. Back then, we

Saru
Popped in for a quick lunch at Saru. When they used to have lunch service during the week pre-pandemic, I had eaten here a 2 or 3 times a week after my mid-day run because they had a lunch menu then. Saru is only open for weekends now and it’s the same menu for lunch
