Last meal with Trisha and Lili. Second time here for me and Andrea and it’s definitely more fun to go with more people since we could try so much more. Line wasn’t too busy to get a seat (i was second in line getting there 20 min before opening).
First to come out were the Dry Cooked Green Beans. I like this version of green beans more than the heavier one with meat at Dragon Beaux. First dumplings that came out were the Pork Dumpling with Sesame Sauce and Red Chili Oil. These were fantastic. The chili oil gave it a kick and the sesame sauce gave it a bit of sweetness.
Then the Pork and Vegetable Pot stickers came out. I love how these are crispy fried on one side. Then came the Juicy Beef Bao which are pan fried. These pan fried bao seem to be one of their specialities. Lili bit into hers and it squirted out. we didn’t realize they were so juicy/soupy like XLB (we should have paid more attention to the sign up which actually tells you how to eat these including poking a hole and draining them first).
The Curry Lamb Dumpling came out. These were really interesting thanks to curry and the richness of the lamb, although Trisha didn’t like them much. Then our XLB finally came out – we had ordered Beef XLB, Chicken XLB, and Numb & Spicy Pork XLB. All were good although I really had wished the Numb & Spicy had more of the numbing szechuan pepper in it.
We had more than we could eat, but we certainly enjoyed what we had!
