Ritual dinner with Julien Royer (Odette)
Another Ritual dinner last night, this time the venue was at the St. Joseph Art Academy location (where we also attended the California Caviar Co.’s caviar day event a couple months ago). The chef was Julien Royer from Singapore who has a 3-Michelin star restaurant, Odette, which is also on the Worlds 50 Best Restaurants

The Cheesecake Factory
We were downtown and Andrea had never eaten at The Cheesecake Factory, so I said we had to go. Great view from up here, but food is pretty typical chain food and. And we didn’t even get any cheesecake 🙁

Ancora
We’ve been meaning to try this place for a bit ever since they opened in July. Executive chef is Nick Anichini, formerly of Atelier Crenn. Menu primarily features seafood with their main supplier being Water2Table. We went with the Chief’s Tasting Menu at the Chef’s counter with wine pairing. We went with the Chef’s tasting

Boulevard
Neither of its had eaten here in many years so we thought it’d be fun to try this place after so many years. 25 years ago (dang I’m old), I used to work at One Market and had eaten here many many times. Restaurant appeared to be quite busy (we showed up at almost 6:00pm)

Bansang
This week’s dinner was at Bangasng, one of the hot new restaurants in SF per Eater located on the block on Filmore, next door to Avery and just up and across the street from The Progress and State Bird Provisions and The Anchovy Bar. It’s a modern Koreran tapas place. The banchan was only a

Robin

Back then, I really enjoyed the modern take on sushi and enjoyed the rap music playing as background music. So I was really looking forward to coming here again, but wondered if

Rich Table
This restaurant was the last one we ate at (3/12/20) right before the pandemic lockdown occurred. We remember having a great time so we were curious to revisit although they did lose their Michelin star in the latest guide. We had a 5:15 reservation and the restaurant was already quite full on a Thursday. Cocktails

Harris’ Restaurant
In the 30+ years Andrea has lived here and the 25+ years I have, neither of us had ever eaten here, so it was certainly long overdue. As expected, it was old-school/classic from the decor, the cocktails, the menu, which we were in the mood to try. Andrea started with the Caesar salad and I

Californios
Our weekly dinner out, but also our anniversary dinner. So great to have some elevated Mexican/Latin cuisine… we’ve had so much French/California/European fine dining cuisine, we really enjoyed something different. Flavors, ingredients, preparation, beverage pairings were all so interesting. Difficult to pick a favorite with so many great flavors during the masa courses, the taco
