A fun evening out in Chicago for an early unbirthday celebration for Kristine while I’m here. Brittin was a great sport given this is totally not his thing. This meal was unique with a beer pairing. Or favorite pairings were with the Hudson Valley foie gras and the one with the dessert with the chocolate ganache that was basically a deconstructed s’more. I also loved the first dish, a very savory chawanmushi with kaluga caviar. The truffle dish was disappointing though…the Australian truffles weren’t very fragrant and the cheese tortellini wasn’t anything special. The spicy sauce with the wagyu was a bit too overpowering for my taste. Service was solid and I did like the venue and to top it if, a wedding proposal right next to us. A very enjoyable outing overall!
