Sorry to be a snob, but you already know I am one. Cute SF restaurant in Bernal, pretty close to where we live and very moderately priced. One of the newest Michelin starred restaurants as listed in the recently published guide. This is my third Michelin starred restaurant in as many weeks (Avery two weeks ago and Moody Tongue in Chicago last week).
Menu was a four course prix fixe with two options for each course so of course we had one of each. There were add-ons: milk bread, truffle for the pasta course, and an additional A5 wagyu course. Ingredients were very good, presentation very good, flavors good except for the lack of salt/seasoning for our preference. With the truffle (from Burgundy), we asked when they came in and were told yesterday morning, but the truffle aroma was faint from our experience. The wagyu, which cost almost as much as one prix fixe meal was ok if you’ve never had Wagyu but much better can be found.
Pacing for the meal was leisurely (2 hours for our five courses), but was actually quite fine for us. It was a decent meal and if it weren’t for Michelin, we might never even heard about it, but there are so many other great restaurants in SF (my understanding is that SF had more restaurants or capita than any other city in the US). It was a very nice meal, but not a bespoke experience, but then again, I’ve paid more just for a wine pairing than the entire meal for the two of us with a lot of wine…I told you I was a snob.
