Our neighbor invited us to go here with his family so I made a reservation for all of us. We had a small frenzy of ordering at the start, which always seems to happen anytime I’ve been here. You’d think we could just order something to start and then order more as we need.
First dish that came out was the Free Range Chicken Congee. It was good, a bit bland for me, but I think it was something Michael really wanted or at least he ate a few servings of it.
Next came the Baked BBQ Pork Bao and the Baked Purple Yam Bao. The BBQ pork in the bao was very flavorful with a bit of sweetness. The dough was light (I don’t like bao that is too doughy).
Then came some Pea Shoot Dumpling and a Rice Crepe Roll (not sure of the filling since I didn’t try it).
Then more bao – chicken for one and I’m not sure the one with the purple spiral was.
Then a couple orders of the Five Guys XLB which was colorful with the five different ones – Kale with the Spinach Skin, Juicy pork with the Natural Flour Skin, Beef in the Beets Skin, Crab Roe in the Turmeric Skin, Black Truffle in the Squid Ink Skin.
For dessert, we had the Portuguese Egg Custard Tart and the Red Bean Sesame Ball.
Quite delicious and it was nice to spend time with Michael and Elizabeth and their family. As we left, the restaurant was fully packed with folk waiting to get in and with good reason!
