We ate here last time we were here with my parents in January and wanted to come back again, this time with Trisha (Ginny was meeting up with her friends and doesn’t like dim sum anyway).
We started with a couple of the salads – Seaweed & Beancurd Salad and the Cucumber Salad. I like the fresh crispness of the cucumber salad with some chili oil and a bit of fresno pepper for some heat. I like seaweed and beancurd which were both essentially julienned along with some glass noodles. It was ok although I didn’t find this dish very exciting.
We received our order of Hot & Sour Soup has a the chili oil, ground pepper, and green onion set on top. I think my dad received a big part of the chili oil and he’s not a fan of spice. I also ordered the Steamed Soup with Bone-in-Beef Short Ribs which came as an individual serving just to try something different and it was largely what you expect.
For dumplings, we ordered much of the same as last time since we enjoyed those so much – Kimchi & Kurobuta Pork Dumplings and a trio of XLB – Kurobota Pork, Crab & Kurobota Pork, and Chicken. All the XLB were literally bursting with flavor, but I think I liked the Crab one since it was different.
We ordered some Vegetable Fried Noodles and Shrimp Fried Rice (always one of my dad’s favorites). I had an order of the Sea Salt Cream Iced Tea made with green tea and boba.
To get a little bit more vegetable, Andrea ordered the Taiwanese Cabbage with Garlic. This is a very simple dish and I quite like it.
Lastly, for dessert, we had to get Chocolate & Mochi XLB with a side of salted creme (like on top of my tea) which was dusted with a bit of matcha. These were like mini lavacakes with warm chocolate inside. Soooo good.
We enjoyed the meal, perhaps ordered a bit too much as per usual. The place was pretty much packed (and it’s quite a large space) the entire time we were there and it’s understandable why they have the highest revenues of any food chain restaurant in the country!
