O’ by Claude Le Tohic
For this Thursday’s dinner we’re back to our regularly scheduled program – this is one of the restaurants with a newly minted Michelin star in the latest guide. Chef used to work at Joel Robuchon in Las Vegas; I’ve had a great dining experience there, so I was very hopeful. They occupy the entire building…

Such an enjoyable experience at one of the newest Michelin starred restaurants in SF… Such interesting drinks, food and flavors, and pairings (we did the sake pairings and we had so many different styles) even for this jaded trio who’s tried everything. Savory cocktails, Hokkaido snow beef shabu shabu, caviar service with maple butter, tortellini…

It’s Wednesday and an opportunity to celebrate Andrea b-day again! Nice ingredients and interesting flavors. The salmon was a bit of a miss (and we otherwise love King salmon), but otherwise everything was very enjoyable.

Niku Steakhouse
For a steak geek like me this ended up being a fantastic experience. I am so routinely disappointed with steak at restaurants, since we cook ourselves on the big green egg, that I will rarely ever order steak at a restaurant. Here, we had the best seats in the house IMO where we were front…

Bar Crenn
#32 random Thursday dinner. Fantastic presentation and meticulous presentation with great ingredients, mostly local. Nice lounge atmosphere. The epoisse flambé for dessert was interesting but honestly I’d rather just have straight epoisse. The canele though was actually better than the ones we had in Bordeaux. Heitz was promoting a flight of wines which included their…

Château Cordeillan-Bages
Had to collect some Michelin stars while we’re here. Fantastic meal. We both ordered two different menus so we could try nine different dishes plus wine pairings (champagne for an apertif, two whites from Pauillac, a red from St. Estephe, a Margaux, and a sauterne). Everything I expect… Food, wine, service, location… from a Michelin…

Nico
Thursday dinner at Nico. There are 62 Michelin starred restaurants in the Bay area and this was our halfway point… Number 31 on our current list. I’d actually call this a bargain relative to many of the places at which we’ve dined this year. Food was tasty and very well executed. Wine pairings were interesting…

Al’s Place
Friday night repast. Tasting menu and wine pairing as per usual. +1 star in my Michelin quest. Patio seating was actually better for us since it was too damn loud inside for us old folks. Vegetable forward meal which was great too. Old school rap and hip hop was fantastic.
