We left the city later than we had planned so arrived later in Cloverdale than we had planned. Based on TripAdvisor reviews, this place looked like our best bet for food in the town and coincidentally happened to be the closest location to our AirBnb, a mere 1 block away. When we drove into town and passed by we had seen that it was packed, so that was a good sign.
Fortunately, by the time we arrived at the restaurant, it was busy, but not completely full with some counter seating and additional seating in the back room. We opted for the counter seating where we could get a bit more view of the action which we do enjoy. We started with a couple beers. I Think Andrea had a Märzen and I had the Death Star Black porter because of the name of course. We ended up trading beers eventually since Andrea likes the maltiness of stouts.
For food, we started with some Beer Cheese and Soft Pretzels because it just sounded too decadent to pass up and we were hungry. We had already consumed one of our beers so we decided to go with a flight so we could try more beers. We specified the Therapy Session IPA for one and asked to just have a sampling of some of their interesting beers which included Burning Daylight Pilsner, Dutch Courage Ale, and Cryo. Andrea liked the Dutch Courage the best.
For the rest of our food, Andrea ordered the Blue Eye Wolf burger (blue cheese, grilled onion, aioli) with sweet potato fries and I ordered the Cloverdale Hot Chicken Sando (blue cheese, honey chipotle sauce) with garlic fries. It’s fairly typical brewpub food, but it sure hit the spot and paired well with beer!
We ordered another sampler, this time with other limited edition brews they had. Personally, I liked the Krampus one which did come out around Christmas time and has candy cane/peppermint in it, but according to the bar guy, much more reduced in flavor. There was only the tiniest hint of peppermint, but it did add just another dimension/complexity to the flavor which I rather enjoyed.
All in all, we really enjoyed pretty much all of the beers, of course some more than others, but all were decent. The food is all junk food, but it was easy and super-convenient and I have to admit it tasted good and went great with the beer (or maybe it tasted good because of all the beer, lol)!
