First time flying first class on Virgin. This was quite a treat at Heathrow. First, we were able to get dropped off at the separate check-in and security for first class passengers; Virgin calls this their Upper Class Wing. We basically pulled up and porters helped us with our luggage. There was no line for check-in which of course proceed promptly and then we headed to the security line where there wasn’t line at all. Very nice. We then exit security and then make our way to the Virgin Clubhouse.
First off, the lounge is quite large and has very airy and open feel to it since the area isn’t partitioned off with many walls and the few of them that are there are mostly glass. We picked a place to sit and someone came buy to ask if we wanted drinks. We ordered some bloody marys (they were nice and horseradish-y). The waitperson mentioned that we just had to scan the barcode and could place any other orders we wanted. I ordered english breakfast since I didn’t get a chance to eat that while we were here in London. Andrea ordered a florentine benedict. Both were decent (I’m sure I could have had a much better version otherwise, but pretty nice option for a lounge) and as good as we could expect in a lounge and superior to what we’ve had in United (Club and Polaris) or even the Amex Centurion clubs.
Our flight was slightly delayed, which they announced in the lounge and said they would let us know when we should head to the gate. When they did finally announce for us to get to the gate, by the time we got to our gate, they were just starting to board so we breezed through and right onto the plane. All in all, what a great lounge experience!
