After running around the city (including an unsuccessful search for canale), Kristina and Paula treated us to some ramen, which was a great idea. We went to the Taishoken at their Valencia St. location.
We started with the Agedashi Tofu and Eggplant. I enjoyed the subtle flavor of this dish, although the fried part on the tofu came off altogether as a gummy skin.
Kristina and Paula had the vegetable ramen, Andrea had the spicy tori paitan, and I had the tokusei tsukemen dipping noodle, which was one of their specialties. Instead of noodles in broth, there is a thicker rich soup, almost like a gravy, where the noodles and other ingredients are dipped into and then consumed. This has the benefit of having a much richer broth/ gravy than would be the the case with a soup. Delicious!
We all enjoyed our dishes aha was a great final dinner together with our new friends.
