We first ate here about a year ago shortly after they first opened. At that time, we thought it was a nice addition to the neighborhood. They’ve since added a very nice enclosed angled parklet that matches the angled parking adjacent.
The menu is broken up into starters, shared, and mains. We wanted a salad so we ordered the Arugula & Tomato Salad and the Mussels in a green curry both from the Shared section. For our mains, Andrea ordered the Crispy Curry Chicken, which she also had last time and I went for the Pork Chop. Their selection of Mains was pretty much the same from last year, but with only 5 choices, it’s a little bit limiting, esp. since the salmon, pork chop, and steak (although it was filet mignon) are things we make at home a lot.
The arugula salad had very basic ingredients, but they were seasoned well (including salt) and we quite enjoyed it. Then came the mussels in the green curry made with coconut milk which gave it the richness and a decent amount of lime which uplifted it with some brightness. The toasted focaccia was very nicely done with thin slices (I don’t need big chunks of bread for this) with just enough butter.
The chicken curry is prepared sous vide and then fried on a bed of zucchini, coconut hummus, and garbanzo beans. This is one of their signature dishes and I remember we liked it last year and we liked it just as much again today. My pork chop was also sous vide and then browned (broiled?) along with red cabbage and a chimichurri sauce and a side of creamy corn couscous. The pork chop was very moist and cooked so that it had a touch of pink. I didn’t really care for the chimichurri all that much (wanted a bit more zing to it) and I think the texture of the sous vide meat threw me off just a bit (and I do prefer meat cooked with hardwood charcoal on my BGE), so I was a little bit underwhelmed.
We were full, but we decided to look at dessert anyway which resulted in us ordering the flan because I can’t resist a flan. I do prefer my flan to be a bit on the eggy side a bit looser, so the flan wasn’t my favorite, but the caramel sauce and the carmelized crisp definitely helped it out, but we did eat it all.
Overall it was an enjoyable meal and it was nice to sit out in the parklet just to be able to see the activity in the neighborhood (plus it is quieter and less crowded than the inside seating). But next time I won’t be ordering the pork chop.
