Kristine and Charlotte were spending their last night at our place before they flew back to their respective homes. It had been a whirlwind and Charlotte had mentioned how she hadn’t had a burger at all on the trip, so I said we could make them at home, so that’s what we did! Mind you, we don’t make simple burgers in this house.
First, we usually make the patties about half a pound which is of course grilled on our BGE. We use this aged English cheddar cheese that we get from whole foods as well as their brioche buns. Some bacon, lettuce, heirloom tomato, fried chanterelle mushrooms and onion, pickled onion, and, on mine, I added a fried egg. You can see the result.
Charlotte made a delicious caprese with the heirloom tomatoes, basil and some italian burrataand and a touch of Massimo Bottura aged balsamic and some Amphora olive oil. Delicious and refreshing!
For wine, of course we had to have some Pride. We had started a bit earlier in the afternoon with the Sangiovese, since they didn’t have that available for tasting when we were there yesterday, but of course I had some in our 10 boxes we picked up. From there we went to the 2018 Reserve Claret with the burgers and continued with a 2018 Vintner Select Merlot.
