Dinner was at Ed.Em, a 1-star restaurant in Chassagne-Montrachet. We hadn’t yet been down here and it definitely felt more in the country, with few buildings and lots of vineyards. The restaurant was very casual and we seemed to be the most dressed up group in the restaurant (and we weren’t very dressed up). Dinner was a tasting menu with choice of how many courses – Trisha opted for 4 and Andrea and I opted for 6. We of course ordered a bottle of Chassagne-Montrachet which was nice.
Overall, food was very good – generally tasty and some nice presentation. Andrea’s pigeon was better cooked sa and less gamey than the one we ask had at William Frachot. The cheese course was welcome and both desserts, first being strawberry rhubarb and the second being chocolate hazelnut, we’re both quite tasty. It is certainly not as sophisticated with technique or sophistication of seasoning or layers of flavors that we find at higher end restaurants, but again was enjoyable. I sort of liken it to seeing a nice light show as opposed to seeing fireworks.
