Andrea has been under the weather and had a craving for some hot and sour soup. So we ran some errands and then stopped off at Dumpling Kitchen for dinner. She ordered the Hot and Sour Soup and the Dry-Braised String Beans. I was determined to order things that we had not previously ordered here, so I went with the Green Onion pancake and the Szechuan Fish Fillet w/ Pickled Cabbage in House Broth since I was very interested to try something with some Szechuan pepper today. So we didn’t order any dumplings at Dumpling Kitchen this time, lol.
String beans arrived first. I don’ think we’ve ordered them here before since we usually get the pea shoots. They were well seasoned including some Szechuan pepper which was nice. Overall a bit too greasy though. The green onion pancakes which were pretty much what you expected and it was nice to have a crispyish component to our dish. Also a bit greasy, but a touch of vinegar helped cut through some of that. Hot and sour soup was fine which also featured some Szechuan pepper. Was nice to have for a cold day. The Szechuan Fish was also basically a soup because of all the broth. The fish was well seasoned with Szechuan pepper as advertised. Broth was also lightened up with the pickled cabbage which gave a sour acidic component. The owner came by and said it was her favorite dish. It was a nice alternative and something different although personally, I don’t know if I’d get it again.
