Billingsgate

Just a quick lunch after my Saturday run (trying to get back into shape, so only up to 5 miles at this point). We usually purchase our seafood here, but they also make some cold dishes and was a good option to get something healthy and fresh. I started with the Wild Scallops Ceviche and the Spanish Tomato Toasts. The scallop dish wasn’t something I had previously tried. It sounded interesting with a Japanese inspired preparation and of course yuzu. The scallops were certainly fresh, but it wasn’t very flavorful with mainly the freshness of both the scallops and the vegetables being the primary feature. Then there was the toasts, which I very frequently get when eating here. it features the toast topped with anchovies on one and iberico ham on the othere. There are also some olives that I like to place on top of the toasts. The watercress greens had a simple vinegar type dressing to give it an acidic brightness.
