Aquavit

Did have anything planned for this evening, but I started looking for something on the ride from the airport. This ended up being a solid choice…. Friday night, 7 pm, two Michelin star, walking distance. Cuisine is Scandinavian inspired. With a 7pm seating we were right in the rush of service and it felt like it. We were seated right at the corner where all the service passed which was a bit off putting. Service started out a bit rushed…we were served the o o re-amuse and the amuse (one was smoked salmon and the other was on a nice Danish rye) before we even had our cocktail (both quite nice).

We slowed our eating to slow the service. The first couple courses (hamachi, scallop) were decent, but not our favorites. After that came the caviar presentation which was very interesting as was the lobster after that. Really enjoyed the Arctic char course after that. The duck was very good, but the truffle supplement was disappointing…. We did late ask how often the truffles came in (weekly) and unfortunately the truffles ended up not being very fragrant. We mentioned something to our primary server who must have said something to the manager because he came by to speak to at us. We explained a bit about our self admitted truffle snobbery and he was kind enough to comp one of our truffle supplements. he also asked us more generally about our meal and additionally comped us a lingonberry aquavit.

Dessert was a “neat” of Ingres and quite interesting and layered. In the end, the food and the customer service especially made this a worthwhile experience

The presentation even looks very nordic to me, like very high-end Ikea. Of all the things to be…truffle snobs. So highly specific.
