The Morris

No Michelin stars and no tasting menu this week. My expectations are different when we’re not expecting fine dining like last week. During the lockdown, we had a pick up meal from this restaurant. Back then, we had ordered broccolini with squid, brisket, smoked duck, donuts, chocolate pudding which was quite a treat for us during that time. With that experience, we decided we would have to try dining in situ.

We started with cocktails, duck mousse, and pork cracklings with honey lime. Then we had hamachi crudo and the early girl tomato, avocado, Buffalo mozzarella. Everything was decent, but nothing outstanding so far. For entrees, we considered half a smoked duck but since we wanted to try more things, I had the smoked beef ribs and Andrea had the gnocchi. The ribs one for me by virtue of being smoked meat. We finished with the mini donuts and crème anglais. All in ask it was a decent comfort food meal. Not spectacular, but a nice casual night out. I’d be interested to come back to try the duck, but then again, with so many restaurants in the city, I’d also be inclined to try someplace new.
