The Bungalow Kitchen

We hadn’t been to Tiburon for awhile, largely because i had been sick off and on and hadn’t been able to build up my running mileage. I’ve only started to ramp up my mileage so I had Andrea drop me off right as you are about to enter Sausalito so I could run from there. It ended up being about 10.5 miles and I survived. I wasn’t doing these “shorter” runs so when I got Sausalito, The Caviar Co. wasn’t even open yet (noon), so we went to The Bungalow Kitchen again (was a bit too cold outside for sitting outside at Sam’s).

We both started with different margaritas. Andrea had the Diane’s Classic and I went for The Dirty Diane which was made with the jalapeño mix and Illegal Mezcal. Decent enough bloody mary (vastly better than the one I had recently at GLK).

For starter, Andrea had the Butter Lettuce & Hearts of Palm Salad and I went with the Marinated Brokaw Avocado Toast. Andrea’s salad was crisp and refreshing, not bad, but nothing special. I ordered the avocado toast because obvious it’s been a thing for Millenials for awhile and I have only recently decided to try it, once for breakfast at Ladyhawk and at Avenue Café, even though I love avocados (I eat 3 or more avocados a week). In this case, it was also just ok primarily because the bread was just too thick for my taste.

For our mains, Andrea ordered the DBM Double Double Burger and I had the Bungalow Benedict with Salmon Gravlax. Both these were very good. Andrea’s burger was a good double cheeseburger and with the pickle gave it a bit of acid and little bit of crunch. Fries were good, but not great (prefer them to be more crisp). My benedict was quite good. The primary differentiator was that the english muffin was quite delicious and came from Model Bakery. The bread in the avocado toast did not say it came from this same bakery and I wonder if that would have made all of the difference. Of course, the benedict also had the benfit of poached eggs, lox, and a liberal amount of hollaindaise, so what’s not to like?
