Peter and I were trying to figure out where to eat before the game. Unsurprisingly, everything at Thrive City was booked. So we looked in the surrounding area and the Dogpatch was a great option and we ended up picking this place.
Andrea had ordered the olives, the roasted squash & cauliflower salad, and the gnocchi di patate (chanterelle topped with black truffle). I ordered the persimmon pizza (in addition to persimmon, had garlic config, goat cheese, a little bit of anchovy (and I love anchovies), a drizzle of chili oil, topped with arugula), Peter and Darlene ordered roasted zeppo beet carpaccio and the chiocciole (a shell shaped pasta with fennel pork sausage, kale, parmiagiano, pangrattato (seasoned breadcrumb) topping) to share. We ended up sharing every dish anyway. I enjoyed both the appetizers (I love beets). I thought my pizza was very well made…great crust and I enjoyed the flavors…a bit of goat cheesiness (and I love goat cheese…heck, I like most cheeses), just a touch of sweetness from the persimmon, just a touch of fishy saltiness from the anchovy (mild enough so that even Andrea didn’t mind it), and the freshness from the arugula. I only had little bits of each of the pasta dishes. I did get a nice aroma from the truffles, but I didn’t find the dish as flavorful with mushroom or any richness (i.e. more butter) as I would have liked, but again, i only had one small bite.
Either way, it was a nice meal to have with Peter and Darlene. Afterwards, we walked over the Chase Center (about a mile away) which we enjoyed more than hopping in an Uber. We had a fun time at the game, but too bad the Warriors let that one get away from them.
