We’ve been meaning to eat here ever since seeing it on thge Netflix show Chef’s Table Noodles (episode 4) which had a great story. Plus, we don’t often find Cambodian food. So after work (Andrea was in the office) we met up at the Ferry Building.
The restaurant is very casual with only walk-in or take away. If you do walk-in, you just order at the counter, find a seat, and the food is brought out to you. on this Friday evening, the seats were all already packed (lunches, esp. Saturday with the farmer’s market at the Ferry Building are their busies times), so we sat at the counter, which we kind of enjoy anyway. Food was brought out very quickly.
First was the K.T.P.P. (Kuy Teav Phnom Penh)/Pork Noodle Soup. This had an 8-hour pork broth, rice noodles, pork three ways (I didn’t really identify the 3 ways), a couple pieces of shrimp, garnished with scallions and cilantro. Decent and would order again.
Shortly after the soup came, we received the KFC (haha)/Khmer Fried Chicken Wings. This was a salt and pepper fried wings, which was a decent fried chicken wing, but I didn’t get a lot of salt and pepper (I think about the salt and pepper dishes at R&G), but I did use some of the hot sauce condiment they had on the counter which was really gave it much more of a zing.
Lastly, we also received the Lock Lak/ Salt + Pepper Beef. This was a rice plate with wok tossed beef and red onions, pea shoots, and a lime sauce that was nicely seasoned. I didn’t read the description when we ordered, so in my mind, I was thinking fried salt and pepper dish, but this was nice, esp. with the sauce. This was Andrea’s favorite dish.
All in all, it was decent, casual, something different, quick and easy. We’d eat here again and try some of the other items on the menu. We did see an off-menu dish of pea shoots and garlic that was something we definitely have to try next time.
