I scheduled a work dinner before our onsite meeting since we so rarely get together since we are all remote and all over the country. I picked Townhouse since I’ve been here a billion times and is one of the nicest places in Emeryville (as far as I know. I haven’t had to go into the office since pre-pandemic, but have worked in Emeryville for almost 20 years(!)). I asked for a table outside since it was so nice out (we’re having a bit of our summer) which they kindly accomodated.
I started with a cocktail, Shut Up Sam which was made with gin, orgeat, lime juice, bitters. Pretty decent.
I ordered a round of appetizers for the table – Charcuterie, Nana Carmella’s Meatballs, Townhouse Wings, Townhouse Calamari since these were all good for sharing. Everyone ate pretty much everything except the charcuterie, esp. the blue cheese (and for my tastes it was a very bland blue). My main I ordered the Braised Short Ribs which was served atop polenta and all covered with a red wine demi-glace sauce and accompanied by a side of asparagus.
For dessert, I ordered the Cinnamon Bread Pudding with Lappert’s Ice Cream (based in Sausalito). It was only meh for me since I prefer my bread pudding to be a bit more eggy (then again, I prefer flan/custard, creme brulee, soufflé).
I forgot to take a picture for the dessert they gave for me telling our very patient waitperson that it was his birthday (it was not) and my boss acted surprised, lol.
Overall, still a decent option for a corporate dinner.
