Before we headed over to Chicago, we had a quick lunch in St. Charles. We wanted something relatively light so this cafe looked pretty good. The cafe is also associated with a bookstore (we didn’t have time to go in).
Andrea ordered the Ham & Cheese Melt and I ordered the asparagus quiche and cream of asparagus soup which were both on the specials for the day. We also ordered a Town House Signature Salad. The salad was loaded with cranberries, blue cheese, and applewood bacon and came with a tasty buttermilk ranch dressing. My quiche was a bit flat looking and was just ok as well as the soup. Andrea’s ham and cheese melt was also just ok, but the salad was definitely the star. I was very tempted by a couple of the dessert offerings (the bourbon pecan pie and the blueberry sour cream cake).
