Dinner event from CDW focusing on “Mastering Operational AI Transformation” at Nobu in Palo Alto (I’ve only been to the one in Vegas previously). We weren’t in the restaurant, but a private dining room up on the 8th floor. Their regular elevator wasn’t working so we had to use the service elevator. No biggie, but I wonder what it’s like for those staying in the hotel.
In any case, this isn’t really a fair evaluation of the restaurant since this was really the restaurant catering food to our meeting. For hotel banquet food, it was pretty decent, better than most, but for restaurant food, it would be meh.
One of the +1 of one of the attendees ordered a lychee martini since she liked sweet drinks, so I ordered one too (shades of R&G lounge). I appreciated all of the fish/sushi/tataki more than the meat (or the scallops which were very meh) and of course the chilean sea bass (aka patagonia longtooth) is my favorite fish, esp. if you get a decent crust on it and can also enjoy it in all of it’s unctuousness. The fish was delicious although it could have used a touch more browning (gotta love the Maillard reaction). I did enjoy the dessert bite with the ube in it.
Food aside, AI is always an interesting topic and it was interesting to hear how others were using it and some of the issues they encountered, etc.
