Namak

Jeff and I were pretty tired having just arrived to Mumbai this morning, so to make it easy on ourselves, we just ate out at Namak the Indian restaurant in our hotel (Sahara Star). When we walked in sometime after 1pm, we weren’t even sure they were open yet since we were the first diners there. We ordered the grilled prawns served in a shot glass with mint sauce, the paneer rolls, yogurt and chili blend marinated chicken thighs roasted in a clay oven, and lamb galouti. The prawns were deliciously seasoned as were the chicken thighs. The lamb galouti was relatively bland and the texture of the finely ground lamb is an acquired tactility that I have yet to acquire. It was more than adequate for a convenient lunch.

I don’t love the presentation of the prawn in a shot glass. Like why? Are you meant to take the shot of the sauce after? I feel it would be better on one of those flat Chinese soup spoons.

It actually made it quite difficult to get at the mint sauce. I ended up just spooning out all of the sauce onto my plate so I could consume it.
