First dinner here in Boston with Matthias and Bella at one of the Krastel’s favorite places they discovered. Cuisine is Souther and Cajun. We definitely had to have the buttermilk biscuits which were delicious and were already honey glazed. They came with a couple spreads – smoked cinnamon butter and a pimento cheese with a touch of heat to it. The cinnamon made it almost french toast like and the cheese spread gave it a kick, but I preferred them just the way they were. We didn’t partake of the bourbon at all which would have been fun, but I was already exhausted having come in on a redeye, but Matthias and I did have the only beer they had available which was a Sam Adams Summer Ale which was a citrus wheat. Not really my thing (and I would have been more than happy with just the Boston Lager since that was one of my go-tos way back in the day when I was primarily a beer drinker), but it was fine.
Bella had ordered the Fried Chicken Sliders and Matthias and I had to get the Buttermilk Fried Chicken (we went with the thighs) and the Wagyu Burger Sliders. The fried chicken, which we ordered with the sweet and spicy sauce as recommended by the waitperson (I’ll have to try the Nashville hot next time), was quite good with a nice batter and not greasy. Would definitely have this next time.
We had ordered the wagyu sliders really just for variety, but they were only ok. Would pass next time. We also had the Buffalo Street Corn which was topped with some blue cheese sauce and some “hot” fires on top. Blue cheese sauce was mild. Overall decent, but not great.
