After spending our afternoon at the AIRE Ancient Baths soaking in the baths and getting massages, we headed for dinner here at Bébé Bob. Trisha had eaten here before and since she knows we love caviar, this was a fun place to go for dinner.
We started with a round of Bébé Lyan Martini’s (ice cold, a good amount of vermouth so not bitey, with a lemon twist) and of course an order(s) of caviar. We went with the 125g tin of Amurski Sturgeon since we’ve never had that before as well as a scoop of Oscietra for variety. The caviar was served with blini crepes. The Amurski Sturgeon caviar had a tasty ocean, briny flavor to it which is esp. good for combining with other foods.
As much as we’ve tried, one can not live on caviar alone so we ordered the chicken schnitzel asnt eh Landes (roasted) Chicken. Trisha first introduced us to fried chicken and caviar a couple years ago when we were at her company’s event at the Russian Tea Room and it was a delicious combo then and even better here seated at a restaurant.
The roasted Landes chicken was a whole chicken. Since it’s not the breed that is used in the US for industrial poultry growing, this was a much smaller bird, esp. the breasts. Andrea and Trisha each had one of the chicken breasts and I had both of the legs and thighs. I guess I’m still a growing boy, but unfortunately it’s not vertically, but horizontally, haha. This also came with some chicken jus which made the roast chicken all the more delicious.
For sides, we had the caesar salad and some mashed potatoes. It was great to have something green and crisp since my body was craving a bit of that and we probably should ordered a main-sized order rather than the side since we devoured that pretty quickly. The mashed potatoes were whipped and had a smooth texture and adding that to a bite of chicken schnitzel with the caviar was as good a bite as any!
