Dukes Bar

Met Trisha for martinis at Dukes. Seating is walk-in only. We were told there was going to be an hour wait to get in and fortunately it was closer to 30 minutes. This is place is all about the martinis. Seating is in cushy velvet couch and chairs. Martinis are made in front of you after they wheel in the cart for your order. Trisha had a vodka Vesper martini. I had a gin Vesper martini (had to go with the classic for our first time here) and Andrea ordered a gin martini made with some fancy Swiss(?) gin. Pours are generous in a large chilled martini glass filled literally to the brim. No food other than the little cups of roasted nuts and cheesy rice crackers. We are fond of martinis and these were all fantastic. Andrea and I had a second round. She had a dirty martini and I switched to a vodka martini.

James Thurber has a quote ““One martini is all right. Two are too many, and three are not enough.” Two rounds was definitely a lot for these big martinis. Guess we should have pushed on to 3, haha.
