Last dinner in Boston for this short trip. This place was conveniently located with a short walk from the hotel and seemed to be very popular and favorably mentioned online. I was able to secure an early reservation for us. Since it was a tapas place, there were a bunch of things we ordered. For our initial round of ordering, we ordered a couple of the specials – chorizo in cidre (Asturian cidre I assumed since it was also on the menu) and some pork sliders with pulled pork and jamon. We also ordered the Patatas Bravas, the Empanada, and Filete a la Plantxa. I also ordered Boquerones just for me since Matthias and Bella are allergic to fish which were delicious.
I left the pork sliders and the empanada to Bella and Matthias since I was eating some other dishes. The empanada was made with lamb and was in a harissa yogurt which sounded great, but Bella doesn’t like cold with her hot food. They filete was a hangar steak that normally came with a sauce with a fishy component to it, but they served that on the side so that Bella and Matthias could enjoy it. We also received an order that we didn’t place for the Maíz Asado, but turned out to be quite good, better than the corn at Buttermilk & Bourbon.
I did also order the Jamón Ibérico which turned out to be fantastic as well as the Croquetas de Bacalao (for me only because of the salt cod) which were good.
Lastly, for dessert, I ordered the Flan because I love eggy desserts and flan was my OG favorite thanks to my mom’s flan. This flan was interesting because it had cheesecake like texture, but was quite good. I didn’t realize until later that it had manchego and guava in it which explains it. Either way, it was quite good either as a slightly cheesy flan or a nice and custardy rich cheesecake.
There are quite a few other items I’d love to try on the menu including the paella, pulpo, etc. That’ll have to wait until next time when Trisha is there too.
