Andrea and I have been visiting Pride for more than 20+ years ever since I read about a very positive review of their wines in Wine Spectator back in the late ’90s. We’ve had many other wine club subscriptions come and go, but Pride has been the one consistent one.
Kristine and I have been drinking Pride wines together for 25 years and so it’s amazing that I had never taken Kristine to the winery for a visit, so this was our chance to remedy it. This visit was booked relatively last minute, but I was able to secure a Reserve tasting for us.
There were two other couples (one from the Bay area and the other from Kentucky) in the tasting and they were first time visitors to Pride and coincidentally were both celebrating their second anniversaries. For this tour, Jay was leading us who is incredibly knowledgeable and entertaining. I do enjoy pretty much every wine from Pride from the “regular” black label wines, through the Vintner Select, to the Reserves. I think Kristine and Charlotte both enjoyed the Syrah (Kristine ended up purchasing a half case).
Pride also gave us a magnum of 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon signed by Steve Pride as a thanks for our business over the years (decades!). And after all of that, we still had to pick up our 10+ cases of wine that we hadn’t picked up from our orders over the past 3 years since our last visit. Cheers!
