As part of Kristine’s b-day weekend, we were tasting at Nickel & Nickel where Dave was a member. We were members about 10 years ago and hadn’t been here since an event in 2013 having enjoyed their wines in the past (I saw we still have one bottle of N&N left, a 2009 Tench Vineyard. Ultimately, we quit their wine club since we found them to be expensive for good but not always great wines).
We were greeted with a taste of the Chardonnay when we checked in. I forgot they even made a Chard since we only drank their single-vineyard cabs, which is for what they are known.
We took a tour of the fermentation tanks and the barrel room and then settled in to the room where we would do the tasting. We had 4 of their cabs to start the 2022 release of the Kenefick, Fog Break, Bear Track, and Airshow. They were all from different regions of Napa and tasted different which was fun to try. Kristine and I both preferred Bear Track the most and Airshow the least (to me had a green pepper component), but Andrea was the reverse and liked Airshow the most. They then gave us a pour of some 2019 Kenefick which was one of our favorites, perhaps due to the additional age. Then we were poured the 2019 Quicksilver which we preferred over the Kenefick.
All in all it was a great time tasting the different single vineyard cabs and some older vintages.
