This might be the first time we’ve flown SwissAir. This was the last and main leg of our flight back from Barelona and specifically was ZRH to SFO. Since i had booked this with United miles and in the economy cabin, we were seated at the back of the bus. The first little snack of some Swiss cheese was nice and so I asked for some wine (which I very rarely do on a flight). The wine was inoffensive and didn’t have a bit of the bite that some cheap wines have and was sufficiently enjoyable with some cheese. The first meal was surprisingly good. It was a chicken and hashbrown potatoes and surprisingly tasty, definitely better than the vast majority of meals I’ve had on United (granted, you don’t get anything on domestic anymore). The couscous was tasty as was the spiced cake in large part due to the whipped cream.
Later came an ice cream snack. Strawberry is a great choice for me. This was only meh. As was the ham sandwhich which came at some point. The final meal for dinner was not particularly interesting. I had been asleep and went to back to get a dinner which only vegetarian was available. I did eat the couscous salad though as well as the fruit.
One big complaint I would have is about the trays that the food is served on. There is no lip or something on the food tray to keep the hard plastic from sliding around on the hard plastic seat tray so there were several times where I risked the entire thing sliding into my lap. I ended up using a napkin the paper from the utensils (metal, which was nice) to provide a bit of friction.
