Gold Bar Whiskey Distillery

Had our departmental team building activity here at Gold Bar. I’m on the committee that helped plan the meeting and this activity so we picked this since none of us had been here. I’ve only been to Treasure Island once before when I did my first Olympic distance triathlon in 2007(!). I was amazed how much more built out things in general were, although not in this immediate location of Gold Bar. It was so cool that the Bay Bridge and the city were in such close view as well as the Golden Gate Bridge, and Marin Headlands further out in the distance.

Gold Bar is located in what was the former Pan-Am Airport terminal built in the 1930s with art deco adornments. Our activity was a cocktail (and mocktail for those who don’t drink) making class. We were taught how to make 3 cocktails – a whiskey sour, one I forgot, and a paper airplane made of course with Gold Bar whiskey products. I ended up trading my cocktail making spot out to someone else who hadn’t registered and one cocktail made was enough for me (and I went and took all the photos you see). The cocktail making took quite awhile and the food was slow in coming out (quite a few complained about that).

We were done before sunset and they encouraged all to go out to get photos, which many of us did. It was a beautiful sunset (not quite Hawaii good, but quite nice).

I did stick around for one more cocktail before heading out. It was a great venue for a team building activity.
